About us

This toolkit is a collaboration between London Sexual Health Programme and academics from London South Bank University, and a working groups of clinicians, patient representatives, commissioners and voluntary/community organisations*.

The project started with a research project “Strengthening the public voice in shaping sexual and reproductive health services - Changing relationships” carried out by Professor Nicola Robinson and Dr Ava Lorenc at London South Bank University (formerly at Thames Valley University). The report of this project is available here. This project identified many excellent examples of PPE in sexual/reproductive health/HIV, but also highlighted the need to connect these people in order to share practice and inspire them to engage patients.  A working group was established to develop this toolkit to meet this need.

This toolkit is an on-going project as we continue to collect examples of PPE in sexual health.  We are also running associated events to facilitate sharing of knowledge and experience amongst the sexual health community on how they can engage patients and the public.

We hope you find the toolkit useful and welcome your comments and suggestions of tools to be added – please contact us .
