LSHP Contributes to Major London Assembly Report on HIV

The London Sexual Health Programme is pleased to have contributed to the London Assembly Health Committee’s newly published report, Getting to Zero by 2030: HIV in London. This wide-ranging report explores how the capital can meet the ambitious goal of ending new HIV transmissions, HIV-related deaths, and HIV-related stigma by the year 2030.

As a partnership of London boroughs, LSHP supports coordinated sexual health services across the capital, including the delivery of HIV testing, prevention and treatment. Through both written evidence and expert contributions to the Committee’s investigation, we helped inform the report’s findings and recommendations—particularly in relation to sexual health commissioning, PrEP access, and the impact of funding cuts on service delivery.

The report makes clear that London has made enormous strides in tackling HIV. However, it also underlines the scale of the challenge that remains, particularly among communities facing structural inequalities and ongoing stigma. The Health Committee calls for urgent action and sustained investment in services if the capital is to reach its zero-HIV goals.

We welcome the report’s recognition of the vital role played by local authorities, NHS and voluntary sector providers in HIV prevention and care, and support its call for stronger coordination and funding across the system.
